" You can't. Our families aren't in good terms, " he retorted

" Promise me that whatever that happens your trust for me would never go weak. Promise me you would wait for me. " he said with pleading eyes as he cupped her cheeks in his hands.

" I promise. I would wait for you, " she said

" I would never forget you, " he said and with that he left.

She stared at his figure till he was out of sight and bursted in tears.

Eloise abruptly woke up from sleep due to the alarm tone.

She lazily grabbed her phone, in a drowsy state as she dialed her secretary's number. Her secretary picked on the first call

" Good morning boss, " she greeted, her voice still low like someone who got disturbed from her sleep.

" Yes. What is my schedule for today? " Eloise asked

Rose, her secretary, rolled her eyeballs tiredly. She knew she couldn't do that in front of her boss.

She couldn't help but wonder why her boss is such a workaholic? She always comes to work before anyone does and hardly goes home early.

" Oh yes! Your schedule. You're going to be having a meeting with the Sunplast technology team " she started

" After that? "

" You're going to the construction site at 10am"

" After that? Be fast Rose " Eloise stated impatiently

" Your mother invited you for a cup of coffee at Mourne restaurant at 1pm " she listed out the remaining appointment

" Meet me at 6 " Eloise demanded and with that she hung up.

She'd trusted Diego. He had been her friend, her lover and he betrayed her. She'd thought She'd been able to trust him enough when she had promised him. She never had a lot of friends because most of them had betrayed her. The one person who'd held her heart.

So when he had done the unthinkable she had a hard time believing in anyone else, in trusting another person. She doesn't even trust herself.

She will never let anyone see the vulnerable side of her and will always focus on her work.

She hurried into the bathroom to take a shower.

After she finished bathing and brushing she dressed in a white shirt paired with black solid slim fit smart blazer and pencil skirt, which made her look like a sexy CEO.

She walked out of her room heading to the kitchen to prepare a cup of coffee for herself as breakfast. She's currently living in a penthouse alone, this was her life, a life of a loner. Her mother had disturbed and advised her times without number to come back to the mansion but she disagreed because that same house was the house she and Diego made love countless times.

Adjusting her slim fit pencil skirt which brought out all her seductive curves, she sipped a little from her coffee before picking up her red handbag which was lying flatly on the couch and walked towards the elevator, pressing the button to the ground floor.

Getting to the Graham's cooperative company, she packed her car in the garage before dropping her keys to the security who bowed his head to greet her. " Welcome boss "

She snobbishly walked past him not sparing him a single glance. Well, the security man didn't take it to heart because he knew his boss was one hell of a cold bitch.

Sighting her boss from afar at the reception lounge, Rose quickly walked up to her

" Good morning boss. " she greeted which as obvious was ignored by Eloise

" Are the board members ready? " She asked

" Actually ma'am, they aren't and also... " she was interrupted by the cold glare her boss gave her

" I asked you a straight question, I expect you to give me a straight answer and stop beating around the bush. " she stated

" They would be ready in the next 5 minutes, boss " she said straightforwardly, slightly bringing her chest out.

Four minutes later as expected Eloise was one minute punctual to the board meeting,

Her high heels echoed on the neatly expensive tiles as she walked on it, the strong scent of her perfume intoxicating everyone in the boardroom, the room suddenly became cold as she stepped in. Everyone was already on their feet in a sign of respect for her presence.

Few ladies were in the room but among all the ladies in the room, Eloise was the prettiest in her pencil skirt which revealed her smooth thighs that couldn't go unnoticed by the men in the room.

In the gaze of all, Eloise proudly walked to her seat on the single part on the center and sat down gently, crossed her legs regally and adjusted her eyeglass. Everybody including the board members waited for her to take her seat before they sat down.

Her eyes scanned everyone in the room and noticed someone was missing.

" Who isn't here at the moment? " she straightforwardly asked

They kept mute for a while but seeing she was offended by that, one of them decided to talk.

" Mr Carlos "

" When Mr Carlos comes make sure you give him a sack letter for being late to a very important meeting " she said

" Ma, he's an accountant... " the man was cut shut

" Sit down. " she commanded and he sat.

Those who were friends of the man shook their head in pity

" We shall proceed, " Eloise ordered
